The Cretan route of monumental olive trees
The Cretan route of monumental olive trees
This travelogue crosses Crete from West to East. It aims to create a Transformative learning environment for students to immerse in a nutritional culture that dates back millenniums and has been proved to contribute to human longevity as well as personal and communal wellbeing.
The products of olive trees are abundant and have been scientifically proved as essential nutrients for a healthy diet and beauty care.
For ages the olive trees stand as holy trees for Cretans who have been cultivating them with love and have made them integral parts of their culture and history.
The monumental olive trees are more than 3000 years old and are pieces of Art that decorate Nature. Their trunks and twigs are considered to be exquisite sculptures which inspire photographers and artists.
We will travel throughout Crete to visit archeological sites, countrysides and villages of extraordinary, authentic beauty, where ancient olive trees are persevered as monuments and are protected by law.
Students will be called to converse with the trees, apply Artful Thinking routines to involve all their senses to see, feel, taste, hear them and liberate their imagination to create for themselves a unique learning experience.
To make the experience holistic, we will visit traditional and modern factories of olive oil production, workshops of olive tree products among them cosmetics, wood sculpture and local families to cook and taste traditional dishes in unforgettable dinners.
Programs last 10-12 days. They will be tailored to your group profile in cooperation with our pedagogue.
