Explore the herb gardens of the Fourni Forest and touch, feel, learn and taste the aromatic and therapeutic herbs of Crete. 

Fourni Forest take its name from the homonymous pre-minoan cemetery that has been found on the south side of the hill in the Archanes village. 

Despite its small size it is overgrown with pine and cypress trees, sage, thyme, oregano and rosemary. 

We will learn about the properties and applications of the Cretan herbs and try a local herbs tea.

Following our walk, we will be transferred to a woodturning workshop where for 2 hours we will have a first-hand look at the magic of woodturning. 

We will ensure you are comfortable with the lathe and then, geared up with a full face mask, you can choose your tool and a nice piece of a wooden log. No experience needed, just a creative spirit!

Find out how locals ‘recycle’ the olive tree wood and use it for this local craft!

Our final stop will be at a local chef with origins from the mountainous village of Kapetaniana in Asterousia. She produces her own meat, vegetables, honey and dairy products. 

We will eat like a Cretan and after the enormous feast we will sing and dance at a private impromptu fiesta.
