Dimitsana – 3 day VIP tour for two
Day 0 – Arrival in Dimitsana
After your breakfast a private driver can pick you up from your hotel and take you directly to Dimitsana, the village where the Greek Revolution of 1821 against the Ottoman occupation actually began, where you will settle in a local traditional arxontiko house located conveniently at the heart of the village, close to the central square and a mini market. It’s a historical stone house building offering great views to the village.
Free time to walk around the village.
Dinner tonight is at an amazing local favorite.
Day 1 – Dimitsana
Breakfast offered at the arxontiko house with homemade products.
The day starts with a 15min walk from DImitsana to the Open-Air Water Power Museum where the displays show the importance of water-power in traditional society and how it is used to produce a variety of goods.
Free time
Truffle hunting: You will be taken to the surrounding forest with a private car where you will join an experienced mountain guide and a trained truffle hunting dog to learn and see the local varieties of truffle.
Dinner tonight is at a local favorite where you will get to try dishes with a sprinkle of truffle.
Day 2 –Athens
Breakfast offered at the arxontiko house with homemade products.
Day two begins with a short visit to the Lousios Gorge and the archaeological site of Ancient Gortyna followed by a stop-over at the village of Stemnitsa where you can relax at the local traditional kafeneion in the central square for a snack before heading back to Athens.
You will be taken back to Athens in a private car.
Dinner tonight is on your own.
