4 day schedule in Orini Arkadia

Day 1 – Arrival in Stemnitsa/Truffle hunt

Arrival in Stemnitsa at a traditional guesthouse with two floors, a ground floor called katoi and the first floor called anoi. All rooms provided with full breakfast of homemade products and a fireplace.

~3hr hiking in the fir forests with an experienced mountain guide and a trained truffle hunting dog to learn and see the local varieties of truffle.

Dinner tonight is at local favorite taverna, on a mountainous village, where you will get to try dishes with a sprinkle of truffle.

Day 2 – Rafting at Lousios River

Breakfast at the guesthouse including handmade bread, pies, home-made marmalades.

Αn exciting day follows filled with fun and action in a divine river! You will be given neopren suits and safety equipment to change. 

You will then enter our bus taking you to the starting point. Your guides will give an introductory lesson on paddling and safety and… let the fun begin! Duration: ~ 4.5hrs

Dinner tonight is at local taverna with stunning view of the mountains and excellent traditional food.

Day 3 – Hiking Menalon Trail

Breakfast at the guesthouse including handmade bread, pies, home-made marmalades.

Today we hike on the Menalon Trail, which is in total 75 km long, we start from Dimitsana and the Open-Air Water Power Museum, where the displays show the importance of water- power in traditional society and how it is used to produce a variety of goods.

There are two options that both end up in Ancient Gortyna. We hike in the gorge of Lousios, we stop at the Monastery of Holy Prodromos and the Monastery of Filosofou, two unique monasteries of the area.

4km: ~3.5 hours of hiking

10km: ~6 hours of hiking

Day 4 – Hiking with horses and Departure

Departure from Stemnitsa with two options on your way back to Athens:

Horseback riding in Elati at Mainalo mountain with professional horse-riders. Duration: 1hr. No previous experience required.

OR

Tour in Libovitsi, an old settlement where there are still ruins of Kolokotronis’s house, one of the most influential figures of the Greek Revolution, and a museum.

Return to Athens.
