Kazantzakis Museum in Mirtia, eat traditional gourmet food and learn everything about wood
Take a peak inside the life and work of the famous writer Nikos Kazantzakis, a 9 times candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature located in the beautiful small village of Mirtia just a short drive south of the town of Heraklion.
In a space where light and shadow alternate, 650 exhibits are presented with a modern look and aesthetics, which high- light the timelessness and universality of Kazantzakis’s thought, reserving to visitors a charming journey into the life, words and thoughts of the author. “I hope for nothing. I fear nothing. I am free.”
Enjoy a traditional gourmet Cretan lunch in the local favorite Olive Mint in the nearby village of Skalani. Argyro will welcome you wholeheartedly to the restaurant and will give you all the inside information into the Cretan cuisine.
A place that will surprise you pleasantly!
Following your lunch, we will be transferred to a woodturning workshop where for 2 hours we will have a first-hand look at the magic of woodturning.
We will ensure you are comfortable with the lathe and then, geared up with a full- face mask, you can choose your tool and a nice piece of a wooden log. No experience needed, just a creative spirit!
Find out how locals ‘recycle’ the olive tree wood and use it for this local craft!
